15 BAD HABITS THAT MAKE YOU LOOK OLDER



Aging is a natural, normal process of life. However, there are definitely things you learn that can give you a more youthful glow. Below is a list of bad habits that can make you look older:











15. DRESSING TOO YOUNG


PROBLEM: Many women are under the false impression that dressing like a teenager will make them appear youthful. This bad habit will actually make you appear older. There is nothing wrong with wearing cute sexy outfits, just DO NOT STEAL FROM YOUR 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S CLOSET!

14.  BAD TEETH


PROBLEM: Yellow, crooked or non existing. Many people do not understand that caring for teeth is necessity, not an option. It is a part of remaining healthy. Plenty of health problems will occur from improper care of teeth.


SOLUTION: Go to the dentist regularly. Reduce sugar, including sodas. Eating excessive acidic fruits can destroy the enamel of your teeth. The secret is to minimize these habits, not eliminate.




13.  HEAVY BLACK EYELINER


PROBLEM: Black eyeliner can make your eyes stand out, but, it will also make your eyes appear much smaller.

SOLUTION: Bigger eyes equal more youthful. Skip the black eyeliner, and try lighter eye shadows or eyeliner around the eye. Curly eyelashes and waterproof mascara is a must!  DO NOT GLUE YOUR EYELASHES ON...THIS IS TOO OBVIOUS!!! If you are going to wear fake eyelashes, let someone professional handle this.

SIDE NOTE: Most mascara is the same, however, the brushes make the difference.




12. BAD POSTURE


PROBLEM: It makes you look like you need a cane.

SOLUTION: Just stand up straight



11. HAVING TOO MUCH HAIR


PROBLEM: Long stringy hair with no layers or highlights.


SOLUTION: Trim your hair at least twice a year. SUPER LONG HAIR IS NEVER ATTRACTIVE, because most people do not manage it properly. Adding layers and highlights will usually brighten and frame your face.



10. DRINKING ALCOHOL / DRUG USE


PROBLEM: Excessive alcohol use will damage certain cells that are related to aging faster. Ditto for drugs.


SOLUTION: Minimize the alcohol you drink...or even better,  Drink water.

PROBLEM: Accelerates the aging process by increasing wrinkles.

8.  FOUNDATION / POWDER WORN INCORRECTLY


PROBLEM: Wearing foundation that does not match your skin is a no no. Powder can make wrinkles stand out.


SOLUTION: Did you know that creating imperfections on your face can give you a more youthful look. Why? Because no one has perfect skin. Instead of just using one shade of foundation on your skin, try 2. One shade that is an exact match to your skin and another shade that is a little lighter. Apply the lighter foundation in the center of your face, and the shade that matches your skin on the outside, or wherever the sun is prone to hit on your face (i.e. places like the forehead). Highlighting the center of the face can give you a more youthful glow. DO NOT PUT EXCESSIVE POWDER ON. This can highlight the appearance of existing wrinkles by seeping into the lines. If you do not like foundation, try tinted moisturizer.

7. WEARING A BAD BRA



PROBLEM: A bra that does not lift, will give you the appearance of a slouched appearance.


SOLUTION: Get an appropriate bra fitting and remember, THE SUPPORT OF THE BRA SHOULD NOT COME FROM THE STRAPS.



6.  BEING OVERWEIGHT


PROBLEM: I do not even know how to explain this. It just does.
****UPDATE: 5/28....Sometimes having a bit of extra healthy weight can look good on an older person because it can make their face appear fuller.


SOLUTION: Learn a new lifestyle which includes regular exercise and eating healthy.

5. WILD OR NON EXISTING EYEBROWS


PROBLEM: Eyebrows that are not waxed and/or thinning. This is a big one.


SOLUTION: Get those eyebrows shaped from your local nail parlor. Arching the eyebrow is an instant face lift. If your eyebrows are too thin, use a pencil and lightly color your eyebrows in.



4.  BECOMING AN ORANGE PERSON OR TANNING


PROBLEM: Drys skin, causes skin cancer and premature wrinkles.

SOLUTION: STOP TANNING! I have never seen a tan that looks nice. And I know for a fact that God did not create orange people. If you want a glow, apply bronzer and blush. OH YEAH...AND USE SUNSCREEN EVERYDAY!!! (Even if it is cloudy or cold).

3. DARK UNDER EYE CIRCLES


PROBLEM: I just said it.

SOLUTION: Concealer, concealer, concealer! Did I mention concealer? Make sure that the concealer is a couple of shades lighter than the skin underneath your eye, and blend with your regular foundation.


2. GENETICS


PROBLEM: You were born to a family that wrinkles a bit faster.

SOLUTION: Nothing. Just work with what you have and do the best you can. Apply some of these tips to help you. Genetics are a big component, but definitely not the only one. There are plenty of people who are genetically inclined to look younger, but do not because of their lifestyle choices.
