But your busy schedule may not leave you as much time as you’d like to give yourself the care you need and deserve. Fortunately, you don’t truly need long stretches of free time to look after yourself — you can do it in short, powerful bursts, whilst you follow your everyday routine. Today, Redefining The Face  Of Beauty shares some great head-to-toe health strategies that will help you maintain your health and well-being. 1.  Set Positive Intentions for the Day When you wake up, a good habit to pick up is to set positive intentions for what you’d like the  rest of your day to be like. See yourself doing the things you want to when you want to. This is a  great way to get focused and allows you to set and power through your goals. 2. WHY YOUR
PARENT(S)
SAY NO?!

  "BECAUSE I SAID SO..."
IS FINALLY EXPLAINED...
Welcome....
"Because I said so" (definition)
  • Common phrase parents use on a when they want to say "no" to their child but they do not feel the need to explain....Because they said so....
Synonyms include:
  • "Whatever I say goes!"
  • "Just do what I say."
  • "Don't ask question, you are being disrespectful!"
  • NO!
  • "Do not question my authority, BECAUSE I SAID SO!
(definition from the personal experience of the
parental King & Queen of this annoying phrase.)

Warning...
This phrase is genetic, you may
find yourself saying these exact words
 later on throughout life...

#6.
"Can I get a tattoo?"
YOUR
PARENT(S)
 RESPONSE:
NO!
INTERPRETATION of "Because I said so!"
  • A tattoo is permanent! Probably more sticky than your parents eyes on you.

  • Permanent means that you can not remove the tattoo.

  • When you get older, you may "regret" something that you are ultra excited to get at the age of 16. What seems cool now may feel like a silly idea later. There are some people who get interesting and creative tattoos that seem different...and they are. Unfortunately, you have to wake up with your own mistakes on your body.

  • Bad tattoos in the wrong places can hinder you from getting future job opportunities. In your parents eyes, you are much too young to make a decision that may affect how others view you.

  • Their is a high risk in contacting certain diseases with going to tattoo parlors and it is extremely hard to determine the bad ones, versus the good. You do not want to come home with hepatitis or HIV from body art decoration.

  • Tattoo removal is EXTREMELY expensive, painful and can create unwanted scars.
  • Chances are your parents probably have a tattoo they regret and they are trying to protect you from making a similar mistake.
  • There is also a high chance that your parents think tattoos are "ugly" and they want you to stay the way you are. No additional personal add on's by you are necessary.
Your parents fear you coming home with this....

Why???
"Because they said so!"

QUESTION:
True  or
False?
Your body? Your decision....??

ANSWER:
True & False!!!

HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS?!

  •  Technically you can go out and be a rebel and find anyone to tat you up, but as a teenager you are probably better off waiting a little longer before you decide to make something so permanent.

  • If you are currently reading this AS YOU ARE DRIVING TO  get "the forbidden" tattoo, please resist the strong desire to do any crazy designs like "Justin Bieber" or whoever your current crush may be.

#5.
"Can I wear make-up?"
YOUR
PARENT(S)
 RESPONSE:
No!

INTERPRETATION of "Because I said so!"
  • Make-up can enhance anyone's appearance if worn correctly.
  • Many young girls wear make-up, not to enhance their beauty, but give themselves an appearance of looking older. This will inevitably attract creepy guys. NOT the type you are looking for.
    • Any guy who wants to date a minor is nothing but trouble.
      • Teen +  guy trouble = Sex
      • Sex + Trouble + Teen = Teen pregnancy.
      • Teenage pregnancy "changes" your life and decreases your opportunities.
  • Parents have the unique ability to relate a tube of lip color to sex, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
  • They just want their "little" girl (or boy) to stay fresh and young as long as possible.

What percent chance
your
PARENTS
will
CHANGE THEIR MIND??

50%

  • If you keep bugging them, then by the age of 16 you may get an opportunity to convince them to buy you play "lip stick."
  • Show them that the true reason you want to wear make-up is to enhance your natural beauty.
    • BE PREPARED! THEY WILL THEN SAY...YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE....YOU DON'T NEED MAKE-UP..
I'm just saying....

#4.
"Is it okay if I go hang out with my friends?"
YOUR
PARENTS
RESPONSE:
No!

INTERPRETATION of "Because I said so!"
  • They may not know who your friends are.
  • If they have met your friends, they do not approve.
  • Teenagers are notorious for saying they are going to the movies and ending up somewhere completely out of the area code.
    • If you have done this before, expect your parents NOT to trust you! You will have to earn their trust back.
    • Gaining back trust includes respecting your parents enough to NOT go to "forbidden" places.
    • Resist temptation.
    • Any friend who knows that you are not allowed to do something but "pressures" you into doing it...THEY ARE NOT A FRIEND!

  • Your parents are deathly afraid of their child getting involved in drugs, sex, or violence. When a group of friends get together, the personality of an individual changes. You more likely to make irrational decisions.
  • You are growing up too fast!
  • You could get snatched or raped.
  • Does this sound familiar?
    • "It's not YOU I don't trust, it is the other people."
False!
NO, SORRY, THEY DON'T TRUST YOU AND
THEY DON'T TRUST YOUR FRIENDS ...

Why??

You parents are afraid you will probably do something THEY DID....

What percent chance
your
PARENTS
will
CHANGE THEIR MIND??

50%

  • Introduce them to your friends. If they do not appear to be on the loony side then it could earn a bit of trust.
  • As bad as this sounds, get the parents to know each other. It sounds embarrassing, but parents are more likely to let you hang out with your friends if they understand the values of the household your friends are from.
  • Try to hang out with a few, not a group. Start small.

#3.
 "Can I start dating now?"
YOUR
PARENT(S)
RESPONSE:
No!

INTERPRETATION of "Because I said so!"
  • This is another form of I am afraid of my child:
    • Engaging in sex
    • Catching an STD
    • Becoming pregnant
    • Growing up too fast
  • Does this sound familiar?
    • "You have plenty of time to date! Take your time!"

What percent chance
your
PARENTS
will
CHANGE THEIR MIND??

 10%
  • Not unless they think the guy or girl is an angel from above...Sorry. This rule is EXTRA for girls and dating. Parents are generally more protective over their daughters.
Why?
Guys + Sex with teen gal = baby &
LEAVING THEM...
 Girls come home with them.

 HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS?!
  • Invite the guy or girl over to introduce them to your parents. Their answer will still probably be "no" but your dating life may start sooner if you can  convince them you are responsible with your crush in front of them.

#2.
"Well, Halie has got a pair!
 Can I get some?!"
YOUR
PARENTS
RESPONSE:
NO!
INTERPRETATION of "Because I said so!"
  • Whatever Halie has your parents probably think that it is ugly, silly and NOT YOU!
  • They want you to be yourself...(I know what you are thinking...MY PARENTS ARE NOT LETTING ME BE MYSELF!!!!).
  • They honestly may not be able to afford it.

What percent chance
your
PARENTS
will
CHANGE THEIR MIND??

35.567%
  • It depends, if it is a financial issue and you get a job and pay for it yourself, than maybe.
    • Although be prepared to still have a disagreement if you are trying to spend a lot of money on things your parents can not afford.
HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS?!

  • Honestly, this is a situation that will happen throughout every area of your life as you grow up. As human beings, we will never be able to have everything we want...even if everybody has it.
Do you want to know a secret???

Halie probably does not have half of the stuff you think she has,
 because her parents said
No,
because
 I SAID
 SO!
He loves you, he loves you not!he loves you, he loves you....???

#1.
"You treat me like a baby!"
YOUR
 PARENTS
 RESPONSE:
"You are still MY baby!"
INTERPRETATION of "baby."
In their mind, they will always think of the tiny baby they brought home, even when you turn 50....

What percent chance
your
PARENTS
will
CHANGE THEIR MIND??
-2,000%

HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS?!
  • This is all a part of growing up. Anyone who was a teenager or currently "is" a teenager is going through the same thing. You are not alone. As you grow older you will usually become more confident and independent in your thinking. Right now, many teenagers just do not have the life experience to make "permanent" decisions. Many of the decisions that your parent will make for you is a form of protection.
  • You protect what you love.
  • Unless you are being abused physically, sexually or emotionally, you do not have a choice. Until you are of legal age, you are required to live by the laws of your parents. As your parent probably says...
AS LONG
 AS YOU
LIVE
 IN THIS
HOUSE,
YOU WILL DO AS I SAY!!!!
"Do not provoke your children to anger
by the way you treat them.
Rather, bring them up with the discipline
and instruction that comes from the Lord
(Ephesians 6:4)."
Well, that may be the most honest response your parents probably gave you....
BUT....

THEY LIED....

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from God,
and those that exist have been instituted by God
  • It never stops. The rules that you have now may change, but, there will always be guidelines that you have to follow throughout this life. No one can do whatever they want, whenever they want. It is just not possible. And at this age, it hurts because you are finally discovering that things do not always go the way you want it to.
Why???
Remember I told you this phrase was genetic :o(..
"Honor your father and your mother,
so that you may live long in the land the LORD your
God is giving you
 (Exodus 20:12 )."
