Everyday Head-to-Toe strategies for Better Health

Everyday Head-to-Toe Strategies for Better Health Looking after your health, as you doubtless know, is crucial. But your busy schedule may not leave you as much time as you’d like to give yourself the care you need and deserve. Fortunately, you don’t truly need long stretches of free time to look after yourself — you can do it in short, powerful bursts, whilst you follow your everyday routine. Today, Redefining The Face  Of Beauty shares some great head-to-toe health strategies that will help you maintain your health and well-being. 1.  Set Positive Intentions for the Day When you wake up, a good habit to pick up is to set positive intentions for what you’d like the  rest of your day to be like. See yourself doing the things you want to when you want to. This is a  great way to get focused and allows you to set and power through your goals. 2. Include a a Quick Workout A quick yoga sequence — something as short as 5 to 15 minutes — every morning, can help you wake up, reduce the s
5 MAJOR REASONS FOR HAIR LOSS

 #5
Androgenic Alopecia!

Androgenic Alopeica is the most common type of hair loss for both men and women. Many people may know this form as "male" pattern hair baldness.  With women, it is uncommon for it to lead to complete baldness. Hair usually starts thinning in a specific pattern, generally starting at the edges and sometimes at the top portion of the head. Alopecia has been found to also affect animals such as Chimpanzees and Orangutans. The cause of Androgenic Alopecia is mostly genetic.

Lack of hair maintenance!

Surprisingly, a lot of hair loss can be avoided. Many times, women (and men) do not understand the harsh implications of hair care. Every product that you use on your hair is likely to have an impact. The following are examples of maintenance issues.
  • Chemicals (over )processed
    • Hair perms, straighteners, highlighting and coloring
  • Not properly keeping the hair clean
    • Hair should be washed as needed. However, it still remains to be unknown to many, but black women usually DO NOT need to wash their hair daily. Black hair generally is prone to hair breakage (due to excessive dryness) if the hair is washed too often. The average Caucasian can wash their hair everyday or every other day. The opposite happens with Caucasian hair. If the hair is not washed as often, it can appear oily and greasy.  These are only "brief" explanations of the different types of hair. Each of us are individual, and should find a hair routine that is fit for you. Talk to your local hairstylist for more information on personalized  hair care.
  • Not wrapping hair at night
    • Despite what you may believe, sleeping with your hair down constantly at night time can cause hair breakage. Wrap your hair up with a scarf every night. Regardless of what race or ethnicity you are, during the night, we move a lot, and our hair can quickly become tangled by the next morning.
  • Excessive heat
    • Flat ironing, blow drying, and hot combs are 3 of the most common ways people use to straighten their hair. Constant heat on your hair can cause excessive damage and hair breakage. If you would like to keep your hair style straight:
      • Wrap your hairstyle at night.
      • Use silk pillow cases.
      • Try not to use heat over 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
      • Always use heat protectant.
      • If you notice excessive breakage, visit your local hairstylist or treat your hair with conditioners.

  • Brushing/Combing hair too much
    • Too much of a good thing can be bad for your hair! Excessively brushing your hair can lead to shedding and unnecessary hair breakage.
    • If you are in a windy situation, never be ashamed to grab a hat or a head scarf to briefly protect your hair from sticky or hair loss situations.
  • Traction Alopecia
    • Braiding, cornrows, tight ponytails, and extensions are the most common styling causes. (NOTE: This is not suggesting that you can not do "any" of these habits ever. There is nothing wrong with changing your hairstyle using the previous techniques, however, it is important to give your hair a rest sometimes).
  • Nutrition Deficiency
    • There is an old saying, "You are what you eat!" This is very true. If you deprive your body of the necessary nutrients it needs, it could lead to "hair loss." For example, people who suffer from Anorexia, are prone to have this problem. Our body needs vitamins and minerals to reproduce cells that help create "healthy" shiny looking hair.

Pregnancy and Hormonal Changes!
 (Telogen Effluvium)
  • Hormones have a lot to do with how our body reacts. During and after pregnancy and menopause, a woman's hormones are changing significantly. These enormous changes can result in hair loss. This is another condition that is quite common.
  • Many conditions such as menstrual irregularities, acne, and higher testosterone levels can all be factors associated with hair loss.

Trichotillomania and Hair Loss!
  • Excessive pulling or tugging of the hair. This is a disorder that can result in an individual becoming bald. A person who suffers from Trichotillomania is prone to deny they have a problem and will hide their problem by wearing wigs, hair extensions, and false eyelashes.
